Why We Do It...

Imagine, if you can, being thousands of miles from home in a hostile environment. You want a snack but there is no kitchen or store to go to buy anything. Imagine that most of your meals come from a plastic bag and many times it is the same meal over and over.

MCFSC sends care packages to:

individual Marines
Marine Units

These care packages may represent their only break from the 20 hour days and perhaps give them an opportunity to think of home with a smile. Their care package may also contain things that they really need and cannot get--little things that improve their well-being. Items such as a fresh toothbrush or foot powder to make their feet more comfortable--the things you and I take for granted.

What We Do .....

We assemble care packages from donations of items in several categories:

personal hygiene
entertainment
snacks and candy
Food
Clothing

Who can help....

Everyone!! Recently we have been sending more than 50 boxes per month, so we need all the help we can get. We rely completely on donations from individuals and businesses to provide items, as well as for donations to cover postage costs, which runs an average of $1,000.00 per month. We also rely on lots of people coming to packing night to help pack the boxes.

Many schools and businesses have held donation drives for MCFSC. Think about where you work or where your children go to school, perhaps your church. One or two items from employees or students can add up fast. If you need help with these ideas or need items picked up, please let Roger know

single packets of Crystal Lite
beef jerky
Tabasco sauce (small containers)
hard candies, gum, Mentos, etc.
ramen/cup o noodles
foot powder (Gold Bond, etc)
white socks
tuna and chicken salad packets
cheese cracker packs, peanut butter cheese crackers
sunflower seeds, other types of nuts
chap stick
disposable razors
unscented baby wipes
toilet paper on rolls
small packets of Kleenex

Please Note: MCFSC follows DoD guidelines and does not send pork products, liquids over 3 ounces, adult content magazines. Neither does MCFSC send soaps, aerosol cans, shampoos or other liquids/items that could leak or cause other products to absorb their odor.
